The Thyani
The Thyani (also spelled Thyany), or Thya, are a traditionally nomadic ethnic group, living mostly in Princiterra and originating from the southern regions of the Malakmaar subcontinent, presumably from where the states Rajasthan, and Haryana exist today. The Thyani are widely known among Trade Common-speaking people by the exonym “Gypsies” (or “Gipsies”), which some people consider pejorative due to its connotations of illegality and irregularity.
Thyani are dispersed, with their concentrated populations in Princiterra – especially the Central, Eastern and Northern Princiterra including The East Reign of Valitaine, Gilder, The Small Kingdoms and Western Balador. They originated in Southern Malakmaar and arrived in Northern Princiterra, now the area of the Wildlands, around 1,000 years ago, either separating from the Dom people or, at least, having a similar history; the ancestors of both the Thyani and the Dom left South Malakmaar sometime between the sixth and eleventh century BCE.
